I recently watched a lesson in a school where all the pupils have a tablet. There came a point in the lesson when the pupils needed to make a note of what had been written on the whiteboard. So they all just took a photo of it with their tablets. And when they had finished a group activity they did the same.
What I didn’t see was what they did next!
- did they file the photos neatly away so they could refer to them later?
- some teachers would argue that the very act of writing things down helps us to learn them and remember them. That process was missed out here.
- what sort of consolidation activity would be most effective?
Have you had experience of using tablets in class?
